Society for Youth Awareness & Health Development (SYAHD)

 Society for Youth Awareness and Health Development (SYAHD) is a youth-led, nonprofit, non-governmental, non-partisan organization that has been established in September 2003 as a result of various studies conducted in both rural and urban communities in Kano state, on youth social vices and menace of HIV/AIDS pandemics, Maternal and Child Health problems, and the alarming rate of progression of tropical diseases (especially Malaria and Tuberculosis). SYAHD is now fully registered nationally with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/No.31656), Kano state Government (RYC/2671/2008), and Local Government of resident (Tarauni Local Government)

SYAHD envisions a healthy society, where people of all categories are aware of the commonest practices that ruin their lives, and various approaches to their social and health problems, with young people {male & female} leading the crusade

Our Mission

To improve the quality of the socio-economic & health status of Nigerian societies, through advocacy, sensitization, enlightenment, and skills acquisition

Our Goal

To improve community participation and access to information on Reproductive, Maternal & Child Health, Immunization, and strategies to reduce the burden of illness and disabilities associated with tropical diseases especially Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.

Our Aims & Objectives

To promote Health Education among community members

To promote the Quality of local health care delivery through advocacy and training

To strengthening community prevention of HIV/AIDS especially among young people and Other most at-risk Population through advocating ABC

To create awareness on the alarming rate of malaria morbidity & mortality rate as well as improving community efforts towards Birth Preparedness as well as Community Newborn Care

To promote the use of preventive measures necessary for malaria eradication in communities such as the use of ITNs and Environmental Sanitation

To raise awareness and educate secondary and tertiary school students on malaria eradication, with a view to taking charge of their communities

To liaise with agencies, governmental and non-governmental for the procurement of ACTs and ITNs for community consumption

To assist Communities to access Commodities for Intermittent Preventive Therapy for Pregnant mothers as a way of reducing the burden of Malaria in Pregnancy

To establish referral linkages for treatment of malaria, Tuberculosis & HIV/AIDS

To provide community HIV Counseling and testing (HCT), and Community Home Based Care (CHBC) for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA)
